IMPACT-Capacity Building Programs for Staff

As part of Teachers' Capacity building program(CBP)- IMPACT, various seminars, workshops and symposiums were conducted for the staff of St Mary’s English Medium(CBSE) School, Kannarpady on 25th, 26th and 27th May 2022 in Mother Teresa Hall. The IMPACT –CBP series 2022 was officially inaugurated by Correspondent V. Rev. Fr Charles Menezes on May 25, 2022 by lighting the auspicious lamp.

On May 25,2022 Dr Caroline D'Souza ,the consultant Psychiatrist, Falnir, Mangalore conducted a workshop in the forenoon session on 'the causes, symptoms and the management of Mental illness among the adolescents' .The early identification and the effective management techniques of common mental disabilities such as ADHD, OCD, Anxiety, Bipolar disorder, Depression and Personality disorder were thoroughly discussed during the workshop. The workshop emphasized on creating a positive climate for the mentally challenged children in classrooms to uphold the spirit of inclusive education.

On May 25, 2022 Rev.Fr Kenneth Crasta, the Principal, St Joseph Industrial Training Institute, Mangalore conducted a workshop in the afternoon session on 'The educational learning objectives of Bloom's Taxonomy'. The various hierarchical domains of Bloom's Taxonomy in the learning process of students were elaborated during the session. The Resource person focused the need of fostering the critical thinking and the creative skills of students in classrooms to cope up with the challenges of the present competitive world. The various educational games and activities were conducted during the workshop to throw light on the possibilities of sharpening the creative domain of learning process.

On May 26, 2022 Mr Manoj M Bhat, Resource Person, CBSE, CoE, Chennai conducted a seminar on 'The Use of technology in teaching, 21st Century skills and the Salient features of NEP 2020'. The bare need of technological transition required to reform the conventional classrooms was widely brainstormed during the first session. In the second session the innovative instructional strategies needed to blend the 21st Century skills such as Critical thinking, Collaboration, Communication, Leadership, Digital literacy etc. in classroom teaching were thoroughly discussed and debated. The third session focused on the pedagogical and institutional reforms introduced in NEP 2022 to achieve the holistic, student centric and multidisciplinary visions of schooling. The various online educational resources and platforms facilitating the effectiveness of teaching methodology were also introduced to teachers during the seminar.

On May 27, 2022 Ms Shobha Jecintha D'Souza, Social worker and Psychotherapist from Roshni Nilaya, Mangalore conducted symposium on ' Children’s' Rights’. The severity of various socioeconomic and psychological problems faced by children in both less fortunate and well to-do sections of society were discussed during the first session. The humane educational mechanisms to achieve the mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of children were pondered in the second session.

The IMPACT –CBP series 2022 was conceptualized by Principal Rev.Fr Johnson Sequeira and coordinated by Vice Principal Ms Rita Quadros. The 3 Day Capacity Building Program was incredibly impactful in deepening the educational passion and strengthening the professional skills of teachers. The motivational insights shared by the Resource Persons positively refreshed and enthused teachers with greater knowledge, confidence and conviction.
