On August 15, 1947 India got her freedom and finally broke from the shackles of slavery. On the eve of 74th Independence Day, we at St Mary's English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi, celebrated this auspicious day in the morning session with great zeal and enthusiasm in a unique way with the entire faculty. The teaching and non-teaching staff of St Mary’s had dressed up in tricoloured clothes, to instil a feeling of patriotism. The celebrations filled the air with patriotism. The morning was marked with the benign presence of esteemed Chief guest Mr. Boniface D’souza Accompanied by Our Correspondent Rev. Fr. Valerian Mendonca, Rev.Fr. Ashwin Aranha, Principal Rev. Fr. Johnson L. Sequeira and Vice Principal Mrs. Rita Quadros.
The celebration began with the prayer by teacher choir which was followed by welcome note by Mrs. Poornima Vinay. The Chief Guest of the day hoisted the national flag accompanied the Correspondent, Principal and Vice- Principal. While the faculty sang the National Anthem with the Band team.
The Chief guest as well as Correspondent spoke on the importance of freedom. The programme came to an end by thanking everyone for the success of the day by Mrs. Smitha. The programme was compered by Mr. Gerald Pinto.
