The academic year 2020-2021 and 'SYMPOHNY' St Mary's teachers' Club were inaugurated on Tuesday, 23rd of June in the Mother Teresa Hall, without the physical presence of the students due to COVID-19 Pandemic.
The formal programme began with invoking blessings from almighty by teacher's choir. Principal Rev Fr Johnson Sequeira welcomed the guest of the day Fr SteevanFernandes, Assistant Parish Priest, Mother of Sorrows Church Udupi, V Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Correspondent St Mary's Educational Institutions, Udupi and the teaching and non–teaching staff gathered. The Academic year was inaugurated in the presence of Correspondent through a unique prayer service led by Ms Eunice. Symphony was inaugurated by correspondent by unveiling the logos of 8 groups of teachers.
On this special occasion Fr SteevanFernandeswas felicitated for his wonderful service to the school. In response to the felicitation he thanked the Correspondent, Principal, Vice principal and all the others who rendered him a helping hand in his ministry in the Church and School. Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca in his presidential address said, 'he is very happy to see the smiling face of the teachers at the present situation of panic after lockdown due to COVID-19. He spoke about the consequences of the Pandemic and its consequences on the system of education'. 'Teaching is educating the mind and heart with personal touch. And today because of COVID-19 virtual teaching is gaining importance and it is our obligation to find solution for the problems arising' he added. He wished the teachers all the success by blessing them.
Symphony had organised a few online competitions for the teachers and their children during the lockdown period and the prizes of which were awarded to the winners on this occasion. The programme officially came to an end singing the national anthem after the proposal of vote of thanks by Ms VeenaMayekar. Ms Divya Ganesh coordinated the programme very well. Rev Fr Johnson personally planned and guided the programme and vice principal Ms Rita Quadros supported in the execution of this programme.
