On August 15, 1947 India got her freedom and finally broke from the shackles of slavery. On the eve of 73rd Independence Day, we at St Mary's English Medium School, Kannarpady, Udupi, celebrated this auspicious day in the morning session with great zeal and enthusiasm in a unique way. To imbibe the feeling of patriotism, every little one from kinder garten to class 4 represented the national leaders and all the freedom fighters through a visual presentation to make the children realize the historical significance of the great and brave martyrs who lay down their lives for the sake of freedom.
The program was held at St Mary's auditorium in the presence of parents. The programme enthralled with Morning Prayer and thereafter with enlightened words by our principal Rev Fr Johnson Sequeira about the importance of the day. He appealed the budding performers to contribute towards the prosperity of nation in their own ways. He also encouraged and appreciated the students for participating whole heartedly and thanked the parents for taking an initiative and making an effort in this regard.
The presentation skills, creative costumes and ideas represented by 370 children captivated and fascinated the audience. Mrs Babeena welcomed the gathering. The program came to an end with the proposed vote of thanks by Mrs Bharathi.
