Patron’s Day was celebrated on 7th September, Saturday 2019, in our school with great zeal and pomp.
As Mother Mary is the Patron of the school, the previous day of her birthday was celebrated as Patron’s day. Nine days novena was observed in the school where in the students of the school irrespective of their religion offered flowers to Maria Bambina and took part in the prayer session with great devotion. During these nine days Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Correspondent, St Mary’s Educational Institutions, Rev Fr Johnson Lawrence Sequeira, Principal and Rev Fr Steevan Fernandes, Assistant Parish Priest, Mother of Sorrows Church conducted prayer service.
On the occasion of nativity celebration various competitions were conducted for catholic students like singing Marian hymns, collage preparation on the life of Mary and Nativity- feast of the family. Daily sweets were given to the students with the help of donors from and outside the school.
A cultural programme was arranged on this occasion, on the same day at 9.30 am in St Marys auditorium. The event formally started with prayer song by students. Ms Smitha Dsouza welcomed the gathering. Vice Principal Ms Rita Quadros gave the introductory message. Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, correspondent St Mary’s Educational institutions addressed the gathering and gave a call to respect the women and thanked all the students who actively took part in the novena and offered flowers. A skit on the life of Mother Mary and thematic dance on save the girl child was presented by the children. Catholic teachers of the school sang a song signifying the feast of nativity in Konkani. All the students were provided with goodies and sugar cane on this special day.
The programme ended with Ms Bharathi’s words of gratitude followed by School anthem. The programme was well coordinated by Ms Linet and Ms Dapsy under the guidance of Principal and support and supervision of Vice Principal Ms Rita Quadros.
