Inaugural ceremony of 'Samskriti Sampada'
The inaugural ceremony of 'Samskriti Sampada' St Mary's Museum was held on August 31, 2024.Mr Bannanje Babu Amin, the celebrated folklorist and Thulu writer of Udupi and Ms Poornima, the Assistant Director of 'Department of Kannada & Culture were the Guests of honor. The dignitaries inaugurated the Museum by demonstrating the practical use of the traditional agricultural and culinary equipments. The new Folk museum 'Samskriti Sampada', the brainchild of Principal Rev. Fr Vijay Joyson D'Souza is set up with the collective efforts of students, parents, teachers and well-wishers. It includes more than 1200 artifacts depicting the rich cultural heritage of the Coastal land. Principal Rev. Fr Vijay Joyson D'Souza in his introductory remarks expressed his hearfelt gratitude towards the generosity and good will shown by parents and well-wishers from Udupi and surrounding areas to donate thousands of valuable antiques to the museum. Mr Bannanje Babu Amin in his speech congratulated the unique effort of the school towards preserving the cultural legacy of the coastal land. Ms Poornima in her speech advised students to learn values from the lifestyle of our ancestors. The Guests of honor were felicitated for their incredible contributions to the field of art and literature. Mr Jagadeesh N Acharya was felicitated by the dignitaries for designing and architecting the Museum artistically. Ms Amratha read the cirtificate of appreciation during the felicitation session. The students of top three Grades contributing highest number of artifacts to the museum were rewarded with prizes. Ms Prathiksha anchored the prize distribution ceremony. V. Rev. Fr Charles Menezes in his Presidential address stressed the need of re exploring the roots of our culture to assimilate the values of simplicity and humanity.
Mr Maxim D'Souza, the Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council, Mother of Sorrows Church, Udupi and Vice Principal Ms Rita Quadros were present on the stage. Senior Priest Rev. Fr William Martis and Nuns from St Sicily graced the ocassion.
Students presented Folk songs, Folk dance, Yakshagana and Tiger dance during the cultural program. Mr Vinay and Ms Geetha anchored the event.
