73rd Republic Day Celebration
The 73rd Republic Day was celebrated with great ardour at St Mary’s campus. The celebration began with a prayer song led by students’ choir. The proud alumnus of the school Mr. Deepak Prabhu, the Chief Manager and Head of Operations, Dr TMA Pai Hospital, Manipal was the chief guest of the program. Very Rev Fr. Charles Menezes, the Correspondent of the institution unfurled the national flag. The audience honoured the tricolour with National Anthem and Dhwajgeeth. Mr Gerald Pinto, the physical Education Director escorted the Guest and other dignitaries to the flag post and assisted the formalities of flag hoisting. A floral tribute was paid to the portrait of Dr B R Ambedkar, the architect of Indian Constitution. Later an attractive ceremonial Parade presented by School’s NCC Cadets, Scouts &Guides and the students of Grade 9 upraised the spirit of the event. After receiving the Guard of honour Chief Guest Mr Deepak Prabhu addressed the staff and students. He appealed students to value the sacrifices made by the great freedom fighters and strengthen the integrity of the nation by contributing towards the wellbeing of the society.
Correspondent V Rev Fr. Charles Menezes in his Presidential address highlighted the need of practicing the core values of the Constitution to spread peace and harmony in society and to solidify the unity of the Nation. The Chief Guest was presented with a memento as a mark of love and gratitude.
Principal Rev Fr Johnson Sequeira and Asst Parish Priest Rev Fr Ashwin Aranha graced the occasion. The program was coordinated by Vice Principal Ms Rita Quadros. Ms Manjula K was the Master of Ceremony. Ms Lavita extended the words of welcome. Ms Dakshayini proposed the vote of thanks.
