Republic Day

71st Republic day was Celebrated in St May's English Medium school (CBSE), Kannarpady, with great respect and pride by the St Marian's.
The day's celebration started at 8:45 am in front of the flag post, where in the guest of the day Mr Tushar Shetty, Professor in NMAM Institute Nitte, the alumnus of the school, Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca, Correspondent, St Mary's Educational institutions were escorted to the flag post by Rev Fr Johnson Sequeira and Mrs Rita Quadros, principal and vice Principal of the School respectively along with Master Sathwik, NCC Cadet Captain of the school, before which dignitaries paid respect to Dr B R Ambedkar, The father of the constitution by offering flowers.
The Tri-colour was hoisted by the guest, after that the dignitaries inspected the platoons and the correspondent received the guard of honour by the NCC wing of the school followed by other students headed by Master Sathwik. The formal programme started by seeking the blessings from the almighty. Mrs Shanthi Lewis cordially welcomed all by introducing the guest to the audience. Mr Tushar Shetty addressed the gathering and gave his message by narrating a story of a carpenter which he connected to the life of the people, especially the students. He said, "accept ups and downs of life equally, be disciplined, be confident to face the challenges in life. Unless you allow negativity to enter into your life, nothing can be lost he opined. He thanked the school authorities for giving him an opportunity to be the guest and also announced that it was his school and his teachers whom he considered the engineers building life played a major role in his successful life. He winded up by quoting A P J Abdul Kalam's wisdom, 'Be active! Take on responsibility! Work for the things you believe in. if you do not, you are surrendering your fate to others." On this special occasion he donated a few books to the school library. Correspondent Rev Fr Valerian Mendonca gave a brief note on the importance of the constitution and the basic values embedded in the preamble of the constitution.
Mr Gerald Pinto, physical education teacher coordinated the programme. Mrs Amitha proposed vote of thanks. A number of parents were present on this occasion. The whole programme was systematically planned by Fr Johnson Sequeira, principal of the school and well executed by the support of vice principal Mrs Rita Quadros.
