Language week Celebration 2026

The Language Week Celebration was held with great enthusiasm on July 18, 2026 at St. Mary's Auditorium with active participation from students of Grades I to XII. The programme was gracefully anchored by Ms. Neeshma Corda of Grade IX and was attended by Rev. Fr. Vijay Joyson D'Souza, Principal; Mrs. Rita Quadros, Vice Principal; Chief Guest Ms. Usha Hegde; the Head Boy Parth; Head Girl Brhami ;teaching and non-teaching staff, and students. The celebration began with a warm welcome followed by the Importance of the Day, highlighting the role of language in preserving culture, heritage and identity.

Students captivated the audience with an energetic English Action Song that radiated enthusiasm, followed by a melodious Kannada Song celebrating the richness of the state's linguistic heritage. The celebration was further enriched by a vibrant Dance Performance which beautifully conveyed the message of unity in diversity through expressive movements, colourful costumes and graceful choreography, earning enthusiastic applause from the audience.

Addressing the gathering, Chief Guest Ms. Usha Hegde emphasized that language is much more than a means of communication—it is a gateway to new worlds. She encouraged students to respect every language and appreciate linguistic diversity as a means of fostering harmony and mutual understanding.

The winners of the various Language Week competitions were then felicitated for their outstanding performances. In his Presidential Address, Rev. Fr. Vijay Joyson D'Souza described language as a priceless treasure that carries culture, history and traditions across generations. He reminded students that words possess immense power and that India being home to hundreds of languages, is enriched by its remarkable linguistic diversity. He encouraged everyone to respect every language and cherish the cultural values associated with it.

The programme concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, staff and students whose efforts made the celebration a grand success. The celebration came to a close with the National Anthem, leaving everyone with a renewed commitment to preserve languages, celebrate cultural diversity and strengthen unity through mutual respect.
