The Ruby Jubilee Finale
The Ruby Jubilee Finale of SMES,Kannarpady was held on January 12, 2024. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese presided over the programme. Dr Ranjan Shetty, alumnus of the school, HOD Dept. of cardiology, Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru was the Chief Guest. V.Rev.Fr Fr Anthony Shera, Secretary CBE; V.Rev. Fr Vincent Crasta, Secretary CESU; Mr Raghupati Bhat, former MLA Udupi; Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, MD, Mandavi Builders, Udupi; Mr Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA, Kaup; Mr Jayakar Sherigar, President, Kadekar gram panchayat were the Guests of Honor. Maxim D’Souza and Col.Dr Arthur Rodrigues respectively the Vice president and the Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council, Mother of Sorrows church, Udupi; V.Rev Fr Charles Menezes, Correspondent; Rev. Fr Johnson Sequeira, Principal; Ms. Rita Quadrous, Vice principal; Mohammed Saad, Head boy and K Surabhi Rao, Head girl were present on the stage. The dignitaries were escorted to the stage with traditional honor. The Programme commenced with Prayer song led by students’ choir. The guests and audience were welcomed through a classical dance performance. Correspondent V.Rev Fr Charles Menezes presented the formal note of welcome. Honorable Bishop inaugurated the Ruby Jubilee celebration by lighting the lamp.
Principal presented the annual report of the various activities conducted on the occasion of Ruby Jubilee. The Ruby anthem was sung by students’ choir. The 13th edition of ‘Marian Panorama’-School’s annual magazine was released by the dignitaries. The outstanding achievers in academics and co scholastic activities were rewarded with endowment awards. The winners of St Mary’s Spell Bee contest 2023-24 were awarded with cash prizes. The Guests of Honor Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, Mr Jayakar Sherigar, Mr Raghupati Bhat and Mr Vinay Kumar Sorake were felicitated for their invaluable contributions to the progress of the school. Chief Guest Dr Ranjan Shetty after receiving the felicitation proudly recollected the memories of his schooling at St Mary’s and said that the communication skills and the values system imbibed at St Mary’s shaped his life and career. He also expressed his happiness for the tremendous transformation in school’s infrastructure. V.Rev.Fr Fredrick Mascarenhas and V.Rev Fr Valarian Mendonca the former correspondents and the current correspondent V.Rev.
Fr Charles Menezes were felicitated for their dedicated service. V.Rev.Fr Anthony M Shera, the former correspondent and the Secretary of CBE, V.Rev. Fr Vincent Crasta, the secretary CESU were honored for their visionary leadership. The former Principal Ms Myrtle L F Lewis and the present Principal Rev.Fr Johnson Sequeira were felicitated for playing instrumental role in the development of the school. Most Rev. Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo,the Bishop was grandly honored by the school for his immeasurable spiritual guidance and moral support. Honorable Bishop in his Presidential address congratulated the school for reaching this significant milestone of 40 years displaying the unwavering dedication to education, character building, and community service.
Vice Principal Ms Rita Quadros proposed the vote of thanks. Variety of dances and skit were presented by students during the cultural activities. Ms Eunice R Anchan and Vinay Suvarna anchored the formal program; Leon Mathias and Avani compered the cultural events
